Metro Vancouver is a partnership of 21 municipalities, one Electoral Area and one Treaty First Nation that collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services. Its core services include the provision of drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Metro Vancouver also regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system and provides affordable housing. The regional district is governed by a Board of Directors of elected officials from each local authority.

Job Description

Metro Vancouver owns and operates close to 50 sites that provide market and subsidized rental housing for more than 10,000 people in the Lower Mainland. Their sites offer a variety of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and townhomes.

Metro Vancouver is currently looking for a Director, Housing Operations. As of spring 2016, both the provincial and federal governments have committed to re-investing in new affordable housing, providing welcome resources. The Director of Housing will lead the rental operations program activities and will work collaboratively with senior managers from other departments and divisions of Metro Vancouver to provide input and operational perspective on housing policy and housing development planning and projects.

S/he will be responsible for providing strategic direction for rental operations program activities. S/he will also analyze the performance of the function; will identify deficiencies; and develop strategies for continuous improvement. They will be responsible for the development and ongoing management of an asset management strategy for all MVHC assets.

The preferred candidate has demonstrated experience in leading and managing the operations of multi-site properties.  The incumbent brings a track record in leading a team within a unionized environment.   S/he will bring a reputation as a dedicated, disciplined and dynamic leader who consistently meets goals with the team.  Consistently develops innovative methods towards problem-solving and has the experience to engage stakeholders both internally and externally.  The successful candidate will have expert knowledge related to the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, statutes and acts such as the Residential Tenancy Act, the Commercial Tenancy Act, the Human Rights Code and other related legislation and regulations pertaining to tenant and property management.
