Director, Property Management Group

The University of Toronto (UofT) seeks a service-oriented leader for the position of Director, Property Management Group (PMG). The role of Director, PMG is housed in the Division of University Operations, one of the largest and most complex institutional bodies at the University of Toronto.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Property Services and Sustainability, the Director is responsible for ensuring maintenance, operations, renovations, project design, and procurement of services are carried out to industry and University standards, with an emphasis on sustainability, timeliness, and fiscal responsibility. The Director oversees all preventative and corrective maintenance, deferred maintenance capital projects, as well as renovations and upgrades for approximately 125 buildings (12M sq. ft.); and, develops multi-year strategic plans for facilities renewal and deferred maintenance funding programs. The Director oversees the work of a large group of staff and service providers, promotes a customer-focused culture, and fosters external business partnerships with engineers, designers, architects, and other professionals.

The ideal candidate possesses a university degree in Engineering as well as a P.Eng designation, or the equivalent combination of education (e.g., architectural), designation, and experience. The successful candidate has a track record of administrative experience gained from a large and complex organization; strong project management and problem-solving skills; a customer-service orientation; excellent communication and people-management skills; and, a style that evinces respect, integrity, collaboration, and collegiality. The Director will exhibit a team-player approach, unassailable character, and a passionate commitment to the betterment of the University and the many stakeholders served by Property Services and Sustainability. The individual who realizes success in this role is a strategic and a critical thinker, and is exceptionally skilled at evaluating risks.
