As Bragg’s existing companies continue to thrive, they are ready to embark on a new project: development of 15 acres of urban land holdings in the City of Halifax. This new venture will require the development of a long-term plan, assessing all possibilities for developing greenfield and brownfield projects.
About the role:
The Director of Real Estate Development is a new role created to spearhead Bragg’s real estate strategy, manage existing construction pipeline, identify potential development opportunities, and build a high-performing project team. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing all phases of real estate development projects from concept to completion;
- Monitoring construction progress, quality, and compliance with plans and specifications and addressing any issues or changes that arise during the construction phase;
- Identifying and evaluating potential development opportunities, negotiating land purchase agreements and other real estate transactions, and coordinating with legal and finance teams to complete acquisitions;
- Serving as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including Halifax Regional Municipality and community members and providing regular updates on project status and milestones, and;
- Building and leading a high-performing project team, including internal staff, consultants, and external partners.
As the ideal candidate you have:
- A diverse background spanning Real Estate, Urban Planning, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field;
- 7+ years of experience in real estate development, ideally in commercial, high rise or mixed-use projects;
- A robust understanding of real estate finance, investment analysis, and project management principles; familiarity with local zoning codes, land use regulations and permitting processes would be considered an asset;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and;
- Experience building high-performing teams.
