As Director of Facilities Operations, you will lead a team of Facility Operations experts in providing customer service-based, cost-effective facility operations services to a diverse portfolio of clients with varying ranges of facility needs, located across the City of Toronto. Collaborative, insightful and familiar with the municipal framework, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to the management team, guiding business process improvements, upholding customer service standards and driving the modernization of existing practices and our culture. A skilled people leader, you will direct, engage and motivate a multidisciplinary team of unionized and non-union staff, lead the development of succession plans, promote a culture of continuous learning and support innovation.

A champion of best practices, positive client relations and optimum service delivery, committed to continuous personal development and being a recognized professional in the market, you keep on top of emerging technologies and trends, participate in industry-related events, and continuously compare internal processes, standards and professionals with industry standards in the pursuit of excellence.

With a post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Engineering, Real Estate, Business Administration or a comparable field, and extensive, progressively responsible experience managing a program of Facilities Management / Corporate Real Estate in a multi-building, multi-user portfolio environment, you have a track record of accomplishments in the industry.

Your history of innovative leadership will include an extensive background working on large-scale (divisional and/or organizational) transformational initiatives, with emphasis on organizational strategic direction, financial, procurement and risk management, and demonstrated achievement of objectives. In addition, as Director of Facilities Operations, you will make full use of your extensive experience with the RFX process, including contract negotiations and managing contracts from inception to closure.

This mandate will also benefit from your strong customer service focus and extensive experience collaborating, partnering and managing interpersonal relationships across all levels of an organization, enabling you to deal effectively with client divisions, senior management, Council, peers and colleagues. Added to this is your strong senior-level experience managing, leading, coaching, developing and motivating staff in the development and implementation of business solutions to achieve corporate/divisional objectives.

A persuasive communicator and negotiator, with superior analytical, human relations and presentation skills, and a high degree of initiative and creativity in problem-solving, you know how to exercise discretion in a multi-stakeholder environment where demonstrated political acumen, judgement and insight are essential for success. Significant knowledge of all relevant legislation (e.g. Health and Safety, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Human Rights and Employment Equity, etc.) is also required.
